I know Spring is right around the corner, but my weather app is STILL forecasting snow! Might as well make the best of it. Plus, the end of the season is the best time to snatch some great deals on items you'll wear next Fall and Winter.
The coat I'm wearing in this post was a Christmas gift from my husband, but I just barely started wearing about a month ago! To my credit, my husband and I spent the holidays really sick, so there weren't many occasions to dress up. But in all honesty, I kind of had to work up the courage to wear it.
I love the coat, don't get me wrong, but I tend to fall in love with statement pieces and then get cold feet about "making a statement". Does this happen to anyone else? I probably overthink things and worry too much about what other people think instead of just doing what I enjoy. Anyway, I finally decided that the coat had been on the hanger long enough, so I wore it out a couple of weekends ago with my husband to get ice cream. I felt very overdressed but SO. WHAT.
I got several compliments from strangers just passing by on the street saying how much they liked my coat, which honestly felt really great. I was a little (A LOT) self conscious at first, especially when Ryan started taking pictures, but I decided to fake some confidence, joke with people passing by (you know that whole awkward dance when someone tries to not be in your photo, but the need to get by, but you don't want to be a diva and make them stand there) and just relax and live in the moment.
I don't know how often I'll be doing these "fashion-posts" because the staged shoots are just not my comfort zone, but I feel like it's the only way to effectively share the items I buy that I really like and want other people to know about. PLUS there were probably 5 other people doing some kind of shoot on the SAME BLOCK. So maybe I should just get over it. What do you think?
Also I did get my ice cream! Morgenstern's Finest Ice Cream has some delicious gourmet flavors like this soft serve blood orange sorbet, dipped in white chocolate, topped with sugared rose-petals. It was about as extra as my coat.
